Sett-studio

Now this is the perfect headquarters by Sett Studios to work from home or study.

This seems like the perfect structure to get away and relax, study or get some focused work done.

For me it would be my favorite place to write, read and work.

prefab-fire

This design is around 150 square feet. It’s just right.

prefab-chairs

Perfect place to study and brainstorm…

office-interior

Notice the window at the bottom! Most people would never even think of doing something like this. I think it’s awesome. Yet another way to bring the nature from outside in. No need for house plants!

Would you enjoy having this little structure to getaway for studying/working? What would you add/change from the design to make it work for you?

The folks over at Mighty-shed seem to have perfected making tiny structures for people. They build sheds and cabanas for people who use them for various purposes.

This is their Gable Style design which is 200 square feet and features a front roof extension.

Did you know your local county building authority allows accessory
buildings to be constructed with out a permit. The most common size max. is 200 sq.ft.(12×16) as dictated by the International Building Code. 12′x16’ structures come in under the 200 sq.ft. threshold allowing you the ability to have a large multi purpose structure constructed in your back yard or on your vacation property. Some areas allow more. Most people do not realize that they are allowed this benefit. Mighty Cabanas & Sheds can show you how to take advantage of this opportunity to broaden your lifestyle. (Source)

I really love that Mighty-shed, based out of Renton, WA, is giving people solutions to the problems you can run into with building permits when trying to simplify our lives.

I thought you would find this story interesting because it’s about 3 couples that are group building Tumbleweed tiny houses together.

I honestly can’t think of a better way to learn and do this. It’s better than a workshop because it’s a real experience. And you’re committed to the end.

AND you have constant and never ending support from each other from start to finish. So here’s a little bit about what they’re doing and what they’ve already done.

I believe this beautiful tiny house on wheels was once for sale and it was listed online but I can’t seem to find a working link to the original post.

Either way I think it’s quite beautifully done. I really like the staircase they designed and built that helps you get up to the loft.

And although I love wood interiors, white really does look nice in tiny spaces.

It makes it feel more spacious for some reason which is cool.

So what would you redesign about this tiny house to make it yours? I would create something to protect myself from the weather in the entrance. And I would’ve made a different choice on siding. How about you?

I really love these Gypsy Bowtop Caravan designs especially the interior of the one above with the bunk bed which is awesome to have when traveling with family/friends or even just as a backyard retreat/getaway with the option to vacation in.

The man behind these awesome portable caravans is Greg and here’s what he has to say about them:

I make, sell and hire new gypsy caravans built of quality seasoned pine surrounded by insulated and waterproofed tarpaulin which is tightly  tensioned around a poplar tunnel. They are built on brand new Alko caravan chassis.  Alko provides 80% of the worlds caravan chassis and they are very light and fully braked. The bowtop wagon provides a  spacious, fully mobile, easily towable, very stable and head turning wagon.”  -Greg

Little Cabin on Stilts in Puerto Rico

Check out this elevated little cabin on stilts in the mountains of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

I wouldn’t mind staying there at all with all that space in the front yard.

And Rio Grande does mean big river in spanish so I guess the view over on the left of the picture is to the river, right?

If so, I would totally love the view! I’d spend a lot of time out in the front deck overlooking the water.

I wonder how big the house is… judging by the picture my guess would be around 200 square feet but what would you say?

Thanks Alberto for being thoughtful enough to take the picture and sending it over to us on Facebook!

Jay’s Four Lights Weller tiny house along with a few other Tumbleweed houses will be on display at the Sonoma County Fair’s Tiny Town on the Green from July 25 – August 11.

“Our Weller house will be on display at the Sonoma County Fair’s Tiny Town on the Green this year (July 25 – August 11). This unique event will celebrate the seasons in a tiny house “village” by observing many of the major holidays, all within the 16 days of the fair. From snow on Christmas to Trick-or-Treating on Halloween, each day will offer a glimpse into what life might look like over a year in a tiny house village.

Attendees of our Tiny House Workshop at the Arlene Francis Center in Santa Rosa (August 10-11) will be taking a field trip to this Tiny House Village at the Sonoma County Fair. This should prove to be an eventful weekend, as we will also be touring Jay Shafer’s own Gifford in west Sonoma County. It’s not too late to join the fun! Bring a friend and save 30%! Click here if you want to sign up for this workshop.” (Source)

If you want to sign up for this workshop led by Jay Shafer it will be a special one because you’ll get to tour his own Gifford tiny house and take a field trip to the Tiny House Village at the Sonoma County Fair.

If you have any problems with height, the photos of this house located in Nada, Japan might have made you cringe.

But when your house is built on only 36.95 square feet I guess you have to find a way to manage up right?

Anyways, I really enjoyed this unique tiny home and it’s interesting to see all the different ideas and designs all over the world.

What do you think about this house? Would any of you consider it? Why or why not?

I thought this was a very crafty micro shelter sent in by Liz Day on Facebook.

She says she uses it as a creation station/art studio, what could you imagine using it for?

I’m you sure would be nice and cozy inside there no matter what it’s used for! :)

I also love the fact its on wheels so that you can escape anywhere to kick back and enjoy some reading/studying.

Great job Liz and thanks again!

Shipping Container homes are interesting because they can be set and shipped anywhere and ng they are also very durable and hurricane proof since they are designed for protection when shipping.

These  homes from Meka World are made out of steel shipping containers and come in many different sizes starting from 320 square feet to 1280 square feet.

What do you think about these type of homes? Would you consider one, why or why not?

Hope you enjoyed, until next time :)

I absolutely love everything about this little yet luxurious house. I can’t get enough of the stunning view by the pool above and the interior is also amazing!

Notice the loft leads up to two separate beds, I found that pretty cool if used as a vacation house so you would have an extra bed for friends/family.

This house really seems to have an awesome atmosphere to indulge in/relax and even though expensive I always appreciate looking at a beautiful small house like this.

What do you like about it? What would you change if anything?

Here’s a modern tiny house by architect Kota Mizuishi that makes the best out of a very limited lot. And it overlooks a river in west Tokyo.

Who says you can have too many visitors when living in a tiny house?

Sure looks like a great time the folks in the picture above are having, wouldn’t you love getting together with your friends/family outside of your tiny house like this?

I know I sure would! And to me, hanging out with friends outside is usually more enjoyable for me than doing it inside.

630 square feet Barn Cottage in Buffalo, NY

Small houses like this always remind me that tiny doesn’t have to be tiny. And we always have to remember that it’s all relative to the number of people as well as those people’s needs.

You don’t have to go extremely small to experience the benefits of tiny house living, which to me, is pretty much the same thing as simple living.

It’s all about simplifying. Removing all of the unnecessary up until the point that you have just what you want and not much more.

That’s not to say that the process of simplifying ever really ends. But to me, finding the right home is about getting enough space using smart design to meet your goals for whatever it is that you like to do.

What does simple living mean to you and your family? Would it be a tiny house? A small one? And why?
