Yellow Octagon Tiny House

What do you think about this octagonal tiny house?

I personally really love the screened in porch, you can go outside and get some fresh air without having any problems with mosquitoes/insects.

Could you imagine sitting down on a rocking chair inside the porch while it rains outside? With a cup of hot tea or coffee beside you. Mmmm.

Besides that, the house itself looks really spacious inside, maybe 200-300 square feet?

I also love the privacy two floors provide if you want to get away for a second and have a little alone time if you’re sharing the home with a loved one.

This cottage is located on a 100+ year old farmhouse in Southwest Michigan on 10 acres.

It’s really unique in it’s design and has a real cool medieval type of look to it.

I could imagine this being in a Lord of the Rings type of movie if it wasn’t for the chairs on the porch, haha.

Anyways check out in interior photos below because I think you’ll really like them:

The loft does not include a bed, instead a more luxurious and peaceful reading area.. And I totally love it!

Their parents don’t quite understand that this is home for them. At just 140 square feet, it sounds small. But it’s so well designed that it works absolutely perfectly for them. And now they don’t have to worry about being settled. They can just hitch and go if they want to. They made around 7 full car loads to Goodwill in order to get rid of everything so they can move in. Malissa even works out of the tiny house as a freelance 3d artist. Many more amazing photos of their tiny house are available here.

Here’s a tiny house that inspires change. It’s 100% solar powered and built on a pontoon. If I remember correctly there are solar panels that are built right into the roof. The power collected from these panels are stored and will be used to run everything in the house including the electric motor that will be able to move the home at around 2-5 mph. This is a rental but when I first saw the photo I thought, “this would be my dream setting for a little house I can live in the summer by the beaches of some tropical island!”

Where do I even start? I love how it totally seems to be in the middle of the jungle yet for some reason seems to be very safe at the same time.

The pond is awesome and could not fit in any better with the cottage and environment.

I also like the covered area on the side of the house where you can enjoy the pleasant scenery of the outdoors while being protected just in case its raining.

Anyways, it turns out to be located in Australia and you can find out more information if interested here.

Below is a video you can watch with more details too.

Isn’t this just amazing looking?

I think it would be an awesome tiny house but this one is actually used as an office for Smalldog Imageworks.

What do you think about these modern/futuristic looking designs? I find them very intriguing and appealing to the eye.

Check out many more pics including the interior here. Don’t you agree that it’d make for a one of a kind tiny home? I wish it were that instead of an office. But it’s still so cool!!

Tiny Cottage that Exudes Simplicity

I love the pleasant looking vibe this particular tiny house gives off. It’s small yet grand at the same time. I absolutely love it.

Looks like a house I’d be happy to get up in the morning and walk out the door with a smile in my face while holding my hot cup of Tazo green tea.

Seems to be 350-500 square feet, what would you say? I wonder what the interior looks like, seems to have potential for a beautiful loft judging by the windows on top.

For me, houses like this just exude simplicity. If only builders and investors would understand that we need more humble homes like this in the world. “Like” this page if you agree!

I just love the cozy feeling wooden interiors provides in small/tiny homes. I guess in any home, really. The look, the smell and the “vibe” it gives off I find so special.

Anyways, what do you think about the placement of this loft? I see it as a bonus loft where you can read and just chill out for a bit.

I encourage you to check out the rest of the photos here to see what a wonderful job they did on building this structure on such a limited budget of just $28,000. Not bad for a small house on a foundation if you ask me.

This tiny house is around 440 square feet total including the basement and porch area.

More photos and info on this bad boy are available at eBay right now where it’s up for auction. Price to be determined.

1982 FJ45 in the rare Troop Carrier (Troopy, VIN FJ45315278) configuration, with even rarer pop-top Westfalia-typle professional camper conversion! I’ve built her up to sleep two adults down below and two kids up top, or one adult up top. So much more unique and more useful than any common FJ40! She’s set up with:

–4.2L 2F engine runs like a top. H41 Aussie-spec 4-speed with granny low crawler 1st gear.

–Toyota power steering

–Electronic ignition and all new spark plugs and wires. Starts easily and better fuel economy, about 15mpg.

–rebuilt carburetor works great

–Disc brakes front, drum rear. Fronts have Aussie-spec cooling scoops, cool feature US rigs never got

–On-board air compressor with hose and gauge–see photo

–All new radiator, hoses, belts and thermostat for reliable hot weather travel

–Really cool and extremely rare 33″ x 9.5″ x 15 “pizza cutter” skinny mud terrain tires with 95% tread, on original Land Cruiser 15″ wheels with original hub caps. Yes, 9.5″ wide by true 33″ tall! Tires of this spec are almost impossible to find.

–Hefty spring packs and 3″ lift. Old Man Emu steering stabilizer.

–All new steering joints and relay arm. Aussie-spec full floater rear axle.

–Had factory A/C, removed by previous owner, don’t know why. But, glory be, all the totally unobtanium factory brackets and pulleys are there! Bolt in a new compressor, plumb it and you’re good to go–no fab work!

–Rare, port installed pop-top Westfalia-style camper roof done in Australia is what it’s all about! Pop-tops are the ultimate camper accessory. Sitting low to the roof of your vehicle when not in use, they don’t affect fuel consumption or access to low areas like a high-top does; when parked, simply turn the latches, push up, and you have instant headroom and natural light. I’m 5’11″ and when up it just brushes my head. Takes only one person to push up or pull down via handles, it’s easy, a woman or teenager could do it. Accordion/futon style wood platform sleeps 1-2 people up top. All seals good, does not leak. In good condition, windows do have cuts and holes in screens.  Much more fuel efficient and lower center of gravity than a big ol’ roof top tent.

–Down below is a removable platform with two comfy 4″ foam mattresses. Full color coded storage/drawers/cabinets on the left and right sides holds the Primus 2-burner stove, 5-gallon water tank complete with P-trap for running water out the rear (see photo), cooking gear, solar panel, extra tent, mosquito netting, camp lamp, extra tools and parts, sliding table, and much, much more. Left side (green) has two boxes with tons of storage space.

Note the grey sun/rain awning as well (left side)!!

–Internal and external deadbolt locking setups at rear doors.

–You can camp, travel and live out of this Land Cruiser in comfort and security.

–Brand new Pierce 12,500-lb worm gear winch. Total beast. Slow, but can pull this rig over a house.

–Alpine stereo with iPod connector. Original radio still there–amazing! Also has factory digital clock.

–Paint is decent but getting tired with small rust spots starting. Main rust is found at rear floor sill corners (small holes, see pic), typical bottom of rear doors, B-pillars, and driver floor, which has several 2-inch holes. Frame is fine, surface rust only.

Dual water tanks, one 5-gallon interior, one 3-gallon exterior. Exterior water tank flow comes out the small hinged box visible in photo left side, with a hose inside with threaded end. Use for convenient washing dishes, hands, whatever. Very nice to have running water both at rear and side, as the side allows for instant water without opening the rear doors.

–2.5 gallon propane tank built into truck. The lockable storage compartment is plumbed to allow the tank to flow propane out a line to the rear of the rig, where you can hook up any propane unit. Or, remove the propane tank, place anywhere, and hook up the attachment that has a lantern up top and the Primus stove below–see photo!

–Two fuel tanks including 23-gallon long range second tank. Switch on dash shows either tank’s fuel level, while another switch (red in dash photo) powers the fuel transfer pump to flow fuel from the secondary tank into primary. 600+ mile range on two tanks.

Toilet Motorcycle Powered by Your Poo

TOTO-Toilet-Bike-Neo_3-537x412

This is a real prototype called the Toilet Bike Neo by a Japanese toilet company TOTO (it probably even has a built in bidet which is fancy, awesome, and useful).

By the way, did you know you can get a bidet for your current toilet for just $30? I have one and I can’t help but share. Thought I’d let you know. Best $30 I’ve spent last year and in my opinion a fantastic use of water. Better than using trees to wipe, anyway.

But back to the subject! Sorry! Hahaha. I first ran into this poo powered motorcycle over at one of my favorite websites Inhabitat where you can learn a bit more about it. Just thought it was a random interesting and fun thing to share with you.

Here is an adorable little tea pot shaped house I just couldn’t help to share with you.

When I saw it I wondered, “What is this being used for?”

I thought maybe it was a playhouse for kids or something that was built on the property of a house.

Out of all things that crossed my head, I never thought that it would be a….gas station?!

Yeah that’s right, it’s a gas station check it out below.

teapot-gas-station2

I’m sure they sell coffee and tea, too though. :)

It turns out to be located in Zillah, Washington and was built almost a 100 years ago!

It was considered to be the oldest gas station in America, but just went out of use a few years ago and is now a local monument.

The teapot was actually constructed as a remainder of the bribery incident that took place in the United States from 1920-1923 called the Teapot Dome Scandal.

Anyways, what a unique little structure this is, and I hope it made you smile too.

Little Red Swedish Garden Cottage

Sweden seems to have so many awesome examples of beautiful tiny cottages. Sure they may not be used for living. Many and most are most likely for gardening. But I still find them inspiring for those of us who wish to design and build little, beautiful and affordable tiny houses around the world for people who want and need them.

“The movement of the allotment gardens reached Sweden in the beginning of the last century. The allotment gardens quickly spread among the big towns from Malmö in the south and to the far north of the country. Today, there are about 42 000 owners of allotment gardens in Sweden.” (Source)

If you’re interested in vacationing in this little cabin you can check availability and book a stay in it here. There are also more photos and information on it there that you can check out.

So cabins like this make me wonder.. Would you rather have a bit of a larger foundation based tiny house or one on wheels instead? For me, I’d rather go with a foundation in a fixed location even though I love the benefit of getting to be able to move your house wherever you’d ever want to go. I just appreciate that little bit of extra space and guess what? It’s still relatively tiny to me at less than 500 square feet!

Tiny Oceanfront Cabana House

This is the ultimate luxury tiny house. Not practical for most of us for any sort of full-time type of living but to me the idea of it is amazing. I guess that’s why it’s a resort because it would most likely cost so much to upkeep on a location like this. Besides the location, isn’t the cabana cottage itself pretty awesome? Notice the area where you can sit down and chill while soaking your feet in the ocean. How cool is that! Plus the upstairs balcony to enjoy the view and maybe even fish from. There’s even an outdoor shower that I see there. Sounds like paradise to me. Interested in staying here? Get more info on how here. But yes, it’s got to be pricey.
