Hello my name is Don and I live in the Okanagan Valley of BC Canada. I was in the market for a tiny off grid home. In preparation for moving from 2300 sq ft to 600 sq ft I moved into the 300 sq ft students suite in the basement of my home. Unfortunately the deal on the off grid cabin fell through and now I will have to wait until next spring to give it another try. What I found was living in 300 sq ft is very doable. It is just me and my Border Collie. My girlfriend has a home in another town so she is not here full time. A small living room with TV and desk, a full size bedroom with a queen bed, and a kitchen/laundry room. The kitchen does not have a stove but a induction hot plate, microwave and small fridge. I have my own entrance and BBQ. No fridge space means shopping more often. It has definitely helped me eat better! Because of the small space, it has driven me outside more often. Both myself and the dog are better for it! Now the amazing thing. I have now rented the top level of my house for $1000.00 per month and the test is over as I am now living in my new small space full time. This is kind of upside down as most I know live in the larger portion of the house and rent the suite, Not Me! By the time I find my dream cabin I will be a pro at living in a small space. Not to mention a little bit richer in many way.
